2010 NFC East Predictions
1. Dallas Cowboys
Super Bowl XLV Odds: +900
Season Win Total: 10.5 (over +130)
Odds to Win Division: +120
Odds to Win Conference: +400
(Free $250 NFL betting bonus!)
Analysis: The Cowboys are going to have a heck of an offense to work with this season as long as WRs Dez Bryant, Miles Austin, and Roy Williams all stay healthy. The rapport between QB Tony Romo and TE Jason Witten is already there. If the defense keeps up, the Cowboys can win the NFC East for a second straight season.
Final Prediction: 1st place in NFC East
2. New York Giants
Super Bowl XLV Odds: +2000
Season Win Total: 8.5 (over -120)
Odds to Win Division: +275
Odds to Win Conference: +1000
(Bet on these odds )
Analysis: QB Eli Manning defied all the naysayers when he used an entirely new crops of receivers and tight ends to still create one of the best offenses in the NFC last season. The East can be had this season if the defense steps up, and the additions of DE Jason Pierre-Paul through the draft and SS Antrel Rolle via trade in the offseason will certainly help. Still, a second place finish behind Dallas should yield a playoff berth.
Final Prediction: 2nd place in NFC East
3. Philadelphia Eagles
Super Bowl XLV Odds: +2000
Season Win Total: 8.5 (over +100)
Odds to Win Division: +250
Odds to Win Conference: +1000
(Bet on these odds )
Analysis: With QB Donovan McNabb now out of town, the pressure for this season rests squarely on the shoulders of QB Kevin Kolb out of the University of Houston. Though the former Cougar can clearly sling the ball all over the field, his running game and defense are both suspect. This could be the first year in a decline for the Eagles, as they’ll miss the playoffs.
Final Prediction: 3rd place in NFC East
4. Washington Redskins
Super Bowl XLV Odds: +2000
Season Win Total: 7.5 (over +100)
Odds to Win Division: +500
Odds to Win Conference: +4000
(Bet on these odds )
Analysis: Don’t look for the Redskins to be that much improved under new HC Mike Shanahan and new QB Donovan McNabb. There is still too much turmoil in our nation’s capitol to get the Skins out of the gutter in the NFC East, especially with a disgruntled DT Albert Haynesworth, who continues to fail offseason training regiments.
Final Prediction: 4th place in NFC East
2010 NFC North Predictions
1. Green Bay Packers
Super Bowl XLV Odds: +1000
Season Win Total: 9.5 (over -150)
Odds to Win Division: +125
Odds to Win Conference: +450
(Free $250 NFL betting bonus!)
Analysis: QB Aaron Rodgers became one of just two men in NFL history to throw for 4,000+ yards in his first two seasons as a starting QB last year. He can make a huge difference on an offense that is full of firepower once again. If DC Dom Capers can keep his defense ranking amongst the best in the league, the playoffs is a certainty and a division title is probable.
Final Prediction: 1st place in NFC North
2. Minnesota Vikings
Super Bowl XLV Odds: +1200
Season Win Total: 9.5 (over -120)
Odds to Win Division: +130
Odds to Win Conference: +450
(Bet on these odds )
Analysis: Will he come back, or won’t he come back? That’s the question surrounding the Minnesota Vikings heading into the 2010 season. Regardless if QB Brett Favre decides he is going to play for yet another NFL campaign or not, there’s no way he is only going to turn the ball over seven times again like he did last year. Expect the playoffs to be just out of reach even if No. 4 does come back this year.
Final Prediction: 2nd place in NFC North
3. Chicago Bears
Super Bowl XLV Odds: +3000
Season Win Total: 7.5 (over -155)
Odds to Win Division: +350
Odds to Win Conference: +1500
(Bet on these odds )
Analysis: For the second straight season, the Bears have made a huge splash in the offseason. However, if last year’s big splash, QB Jay Cutler can’t get his act together, his newest defensive star, DE Julius Peppers, will be more interested in sacking him than going after opposing quarterbacks. This year could be a train wreck in the Windy City.
Final Prediction: 3rd place in NFC North
4. Detroit Lions
Super Bowl XLV Odds: +10000
Season Win Total: 5.5 (over +140)
Odds to Win Division: +1500
Odds to Win Conference: +5000
(Bet on these odds )
Analysis: Believe it or not, the Lions could be a bit of a dark horse this season. The offense looks great with QB Matt Stafford, RB Jahvid Best, WR Calvin Johnson, and TE Brandon Pettigrew, all of which were recent first round draft picks. The defense still has 10 holes to fill though, as DT Ndamukong Suh, the second overall pick in the NFL Draft can’t play everywhere. It’ll be one more year before Detroit competes.
Final Prediction: 4th place in NFC North
2010 NFC South Predictions
1. New Orleans Saints
Super Bowl XLV Odds: +900
Season Win Total: 10.5 (over +105)
Odds to Win Division: -160
Odds to Win Conference: +400
(Free $250 NFL betting bonus!)
Analysis: New Orleans won its first ever Super Bowl last season, and a second could be in the cards this year. The Saints are going to march towards another NFC South title with ease, and a potent offense and turnover happy defense should be the crucial pieces to the puzzle for HC Sean Peyton. Don’t be shocked to see a return trip to the Super Bowl.
Final Prediction: 1st place in NFC South
2. Atlanta Falcons
Super Bowl XLV Odds: +2000
Season Win Total: 8.5 (over -210)
Odds to Win Division: +175
Odds to Win Conference: +1000
(Bet on these odds )
Analysis: The Falcons had a lot going against them last year, but they proved they belonged amongst the NFC’s elite teams. They’ll have a great offense again this year as long as RB Michael Turner returns to his ’08 form. The defense was bolstered with the addition of DB Dunta Robinson via free agency. Though the ‘D’ still isn’t fantastic, it should be enough to bring the red and black back to the second season.
Final Prediction: 2nd place in NFC South
3. Carolina Panthers
Super Bowl XLV Odds: +5000
Season Win Total: 7.5 (over +125)
Odds to Win Division: +800
Odds to Win Conference: +2500
(Bet on these odds )
Analysis: Whether it’s Matt Moore or Jimmy Clausen taking snaps for the Panthers, they’re still in a lot of trouble this year. RBs DeAngelo Williams and Jonathan Stewart can’t carry the whole team, and the defense has now sustained its second huge loss in a row. Neither DT Kris Jenkins, who left two years ago, nor DE Julius Peppers, who departed in this offseason are back in the fold.
Final Prediction: 3rd place in NFC South
4. Tampa Bay Buccaneers
Super Bowl XLV Odds: +20000
Season Win Total: 7.5 (over +100)
Odds to Win Division: +1500
Odds to Win Conference: +10000
(Bet on these odds )
Analysis: The Bucs are going to be a cute story this year if they can win 6-7 games, but they aren’t seriously competing for anything more than perhaps third place in this division if Carolina totally falls apart. This is an incredibly young defense which will have two rookie defensive tackles and could start as many as eight players under the age of 26. Better times will be ahead in Tampa Bay, but this year won’t be that time.
Final Prediction: 4th place in NFC South
2010 NFC West Predictions
1. San Francisco 49ers
Super Bowl XLV Odds: +2000
Season Win Total: 8.5 (over -165)
Odds to Win Division: -145
Odds to Win Conference: +1000
(Free $250 NFL betting bonus!)
Analysis: If the 49ers can’t win the NFC West this year, it might not ever happen again. With a revamped offensive line and a defense which should be the best in the division, the 49ers just don’t have an excuse not to make it to the playoffs for the first time in seemingly eons.
Final Prediction: 1st place in NFC West
2. St. Louis Rams
Super Bowl XLV Odds: +20000
Season Win Total: 5.5 (over +160)
Odds to Win Division: +2500
Odds to Win Conference: +10000
(Bet on these odds )
Analysis: It’s not that we think the Rams are that good, it’s just that we know the rest of the NFC West is that bad. QB Sam Bradford should at least bring a little bit of excitement to the Gateway to the West, and though his weapons on offense are few and far between, RB Stephen Jackson could will the Rams to six wins this year. That might be enough to finish in second in this pitiful four pack of teams.
Final Prediction: 2nd place in NFC West
3. Arizona Cardinals
Super Bowl XLV Odds: +7500
Season Win Total: 7.5 (over -125)
Odds to Win Division: +225
Odds to Win Conference: +3000
(Bet on these odds )
Analysis: This is going to be the last chance for QB Matt Leinart to prove himself. He probably isn’t ready to sit at the same type of level as QB Kurt Warner did, and with changes all over the field, it could be a long year in the desert. If the Cards finish any better than third in the NFC West, HC Ken Whisenhunt deserves a bigger raise than the one he got following the run to the Super Bowl.
Final Prediction: 3rd place in NFC West
4. Seattle Seahawks
Super Bowl XLV Odds: +7500
Season Win Total: 7.5 (over +115)
Odds to Win Division: +350
Odds to Win Conference: +3000
(Bet on these odds )
Analysis: The Seahawks might have a new head coach in the form of Pete Carroll, but that doesn’t mean a winning mentality is going to yield good results on the field. They just have too many holes both on defense with a pass rush that could be the worst in the NFL and in the rushing game, where RB Leon Washington is coming off of a broken leg from last year.
Final Prediction: 4th place in NFC West
2010 AFC East Predictions
1. New England Patriots
Super Bowl XLV Odds: +1000
Season Win Total: 9.5 (over -130)
Odds to Win Division: +120
Odds to Win Conference: +450
(Free $250 NFL betting bonus!)
Analysis: Disrespect? That’s what it sounds like in New England right now. The Pats are still a team with an incredibly talented offense with QB Tom Brady at the helm. The defense should just need to be able to hold serve to get New England back to the playoffs. It seems awfully weird that it isn’t odds on favorites to win the AFC East.
Final Prediction: 1st place in AFC East
2. New York Jets
Super Bowl XLV Odds: +1000
Season Win Total: 9.5 (over -120)
Odds to Win Division: +140
Odds to Win Conference: +500
(Bet on these odds )
Analysis: HC Rex Ryan certainly proved last year that he was certifiably insane and was capable of calling just about any blitz at any time against any opponent. He adds to his crop of talented players this year with DBs Antonio Cromartie and Kyle Wilson, and the offense spices itself up with RB LaDainian Tomlinson. LT can’t carry New York to a divisional title though, and it will probably just narrowly sneak into the playoffs like last year.
Final Prediction: 2nd place in AFC East
3. Miami Dolphins
Super Bowl XLV Odds: +3000
Season Win Total: 8.5 (over +100)
Odds to Win Division: +300
Odds to Win Conference: +1500
(Bet on these odds )
Analysis: QB Chad Henne has his chance to shine this season with a healthy complement of running backs at his disposal. He also now has WR Brandon Marshall to deploy the pigskin to, giving him a huge target that he was so desperately in need of last year. The Fins just don’t have enough experience on defense anymore to compete in the AFC East, though a .500 finish isn’t out of the question.
Final Prediction: 3rd place in AFC East
4. Buffalo Bills
Super Bowl XLV Odds: +20000
Season Win Total: 5.5 (over +120)
Odds to Win Division: +1500
Odds to Win Conference: +10000
(Bet on these odds )
Analysis: Simply put, the Bills are the worst coached team and have the worst roster in the NFL. Who knows what anyone was thinking when they brought in HC Chan Gailey to coach this squad, as he has failed in every job he has ever had. Four wins would be a triumph. Fourth place in the division won’t be avoided.
Final Prediction: 4th place in AFC East
2010 AFC North Predictions
1. Baltimore Ravens
Super Bowl XLV Odds: +1000
Season Win Total: 9.5 (over -155)
Odds to Win Division: -145
Odds to Win Conference: +450
(Free $250 NFL betting bonus!)
Analysis: The Ravens offense got a heck of a lot better in the offseason with the addition of WR Anquan Boldin. This unit could top 6,000 yards this year if it needs to. However, with a scary defense that is only getting better with the additions of DT Terrence Cody and LB Sergio Kindle through the NFL Draft, Baltimore is certainly the team to beat in the North and might be the one to top for the Lombardi Trophy as well.
Final Prediction: 1st place in AFC North
2. Pittsburgh Steelers
Super Bowl XLV Odds: +1800
Season Win Total: 8.5 (over -115)
Odds to Win Division: +240
Odds to Win Conference: +900
(Bet on these odds )
Analysis: The Steelers certainly hit a rough patch last year when they were losing to everyone under the sun. However, they have SS Troy Polamalu back. Though the offense isn’t going to be any better this year than it was a year ago, particularly with QB Ben Roethlisberger being suspended for the first month of the year, the ‘D’ could carry this team back to the playoffs. We tend to believe the black and gold will fall just short, though.
Final Prediction: 2nd place in AFC North
3. Cincinnati Bengals
Super Bowl XLV Odds: +5000
Season Win Total: 8.5 (over +115)
Odds to Win Division: +350
Odds to Win Conference: +2500
(Bet on these odds )
Analysis: Who dey gonna stop dem Bengals? Probably themselves. The sideshow known as the duo of WRs Terrell Owens and Chad Ochocinco should be hilarious to watch all season long. However, unless the defense plays out of its skull this year like it did a year ago, nothing is going to come of it. Cincinnati was a farce last year, and it will prove it this season with a third place finish in the North.
Final Prediction: 3rd place in AFC North
4. Cleveland Browns
Super Bowl XLV Odds: +20000
Season Win Total: 5.5 (over -105)
Odds to Win Division: +1500
Odds to Win Conference: +10000
(Bet on these odds )
Analysis: Though new GM Mike Holmgren will clearly bring at least a bit of a winning mentality to the Browns, there still aren’t enough pieces to the puzzle here on either side of the ball to readily compete every passing week. QB Jake Delhomme might be wishing that he was a backup after this baptism in the Dawg Pound.
Final Prediction: 4th place in AFC North
2010 AFC South Predictions
1. Indianapolis Colts
Super Bowl XLV Odds: +700
Season Win Total: 10.5 (over -130)
Odds to Win Division: -240
Odds to Win Conference: +350
(Free $250 NFL betting bonus!)
Analysis: QB Peyton Manning might have a new OC to break in, but he’s still got the most feared offense in the NFL. The pass rush got a lot better as well with the addition of DE Jerry Hughes at the tail end of the first round of the NFL Draft. Indy has no excuses not to win the division, but if anything happens to No. 18, the whole story could change.
Final Prediction: 1st place in AFC South
2. Houston Texans
Super Bowl XLV Odds: +4000
Season Win Total: 8.5 (over +100)
Odds to Win Division: +350
Odds to Win Conference: +2000
(Bet on these odds )
Analysis: The Texans had their first season above .500 last year in franchise history, and this is the year they are expected to make the playoffs. QB Matt Schaub led the NFL’s best passing attack, and if the team can improve on the NFL’s dead last ranked red zone offense, the offense could be the top scoring unit in the game as well. Questions are still all over the place in the back end of the defense, but this should be the year HC Gary Kubiak gets the job done and punches Houston’s ticket to the second season.
Final Prediction: 2nd place in AFC South
3. Tennessee Titans
Super Bowl XLV Odds: +4000
Season Win Total: 8.5 (over +110)
Odds to Win Division: +475
Odds to Win Conference: +2000
(Bet on these odds )
Analysis: The Titans looked like world beaters for awhile in the second half of the season last year, and if HC Jeff Fisher can get that mentality going for a full 16 games this year, the Titans will be scary. Unfortunately, we aren’t sold either on QB Vince Young’s abilities to lead an NFL team or the defense’s ability to give up less than 24 PPG. Tennessee will finish right around .500 again and just narrowly miss the playoffs.
Final Prediction: 3rd place in AFC South
4. Jacksonville Jaguars
Super Bowl XLV Odds: +10000
Season Win Total: 7.5 (over +135)
Odds to Win Division: +1500
Odds to Win Conference: +4000
(Bet on these odds )
Analysis: In any other division in football, perhaps the Jags would be thinking about the playoffs. Still, there doesn’t seem like much hope in this stacked division, as QB David Garrard is clearly overmatched in relation to the rest of his AFC South counterparts. Jacksonville is in for a long year in what should be the last for HC Jack Del Rio.
Final Prediction: 4th place in AFC South
2010 AFC West Predictions
1. San Diego Chargers
Super Bowl XLV Odds: +1000
Season Win Total: 10.5 (over -140)
Odds to Win Division: -300
Odds to Win Conference: +450
(Free $250 NFL betting bonus!)
Analysis: Thanks to a pitiful division and a weak out of division schedule, the Chargers are almost certain to win the AFC West this year. However, this is a team measured on playoff success. Without RB LaDainian Tomlinson and DB Antonio Cromartie, we aren’t so sure how far the Bolts will be able to go.
Final Prediction: 1st place in AFC West
2. Oakland Raiders
Super Bowl XLV Odds: +20000
Season Win Total: 5.5 (over -180)
Odds to Win Division: +700
Odds to Win Conference: +1000
(Bet on these odds )
Analysis: Could the tide be turning in Oakland? The Raiders have a new quarterback in Jason Campbell to finally remove the last shreds of the JaMarcus Russell era. The defense still looks to be stout this year, and if the silver and black offense gets moving, finishing 7-9 might not be that farfetched.
Final Prediction: 2nd place in AFC West
3. Denver Broncos
Super Bowl XLV Odds: +3000
Season Win Total: 7.5 (over +100)
Odds to Win Division: +600
Odds to Win Conference: +6000
(Bet on these odds )
Analysis: It appears as though HC Josh McDaniels has gone to bed with QB Tim Tebow. If the former Florida Gator proves to be legit, McDaniels might save his coaching career. However, after blowing a 6-0 start to the regular season last year and not making the playoffs, we aren’t so sure this is a great move for a man that is already on thin ice. That ice will break this year with a bad season.
Final Prediction: 3rd place in AFC West
4. Kansas City Chiefs
Super Bowl XLV Odds: +20000
Season Win Total: 6.5 (over -110)
Odds to Win Division: +650
Odds to Win Conference: +10000
(Bet on these odds )
Analysis: Things aren’t getting any better this year in Kansas City. There weren’t enough free agent moves made to help this offense where it really counts, as running back wasn’t a position of need. Yes, RB Thomas Jones will help out the ‘O’ without a doubt, but he isn’t a quarterback, a wide receiver, or an offensive lineman. The defense is shoddy as well. Don’t expect the Chiefs to be contenders for anything but the top pick in next year’s NFL Draft.
Final Prediction: 4th place in AFC West
