Tim Tebow – Florida Gators

In his best game since suffering a concussion at Kentucky, Tebow accounted for four touchdowns in Florida’s 41-17 win over Georgia in Jacksonville. Tebow’s two touchdown runs enabled him to set the SEC career record for scoring runs with 51. He broke the record of former Georgia running back Herschel Walker. Tebow leads the balanced Florida running attack with 551 yards. Through the air, he completed 15-of-21-passes for 164 yards and a pair of TD strikes. For the season, Tebow has ten touchdown passes and eight touchdown runs. This week, his top-ranked Florida squad will host Vanderbilt in a prime time contest that will be televised by ESPN2.

Colt McCoy – Texas Longhorns

McCoy delivered a solid performance to help Texas move into the number two spot in the national rankings after a 41-14 victory at Oklahoma State. He completed 16-of-21 passes for 171 yards and a touchdown toss in the win. For the first time in 2009, McCoy was able to avoid an interception in a game. On the year, McCoy has completed 72% of his pass attempts with 15 touchdown throws. Like Florida, Texas will be heavily favored in their final four games of the regular season. This week, the Longhorns will entertain Central Florida. The biggest remaining obstacle on the regular slate will be a Thanksgiving visit to Texas A & M.

Mark Ingram – Alabama Crimson Tide

Ingram will take center stage in the Heisman race this week as his 3rd-ranked Alabama squad hosts 9th-ranked LSU. A loss against the Tigers would take Ingram out of serious contention in the race. In comparison to Tebow and McCoy, his name value is far behind the star quarterbacks. The sophomore is sixth in the nation in rushing with 1004 yards and a 6.6 yards per carry average. Ingram has 11 total touchdowns (8 rushing, 3 receiving) in 2009. After this week’s game, Ingram’s next showcase contest will be in Alabama’s regular season finale at rival Auburn on November 27th.

Case Keenum – Houston Cougars

Keenum is gaining some momentum as an outside candidate in the race. The junior quarterback passed for a career-high 559 yards and five touchdown passes in a 50-43 Houston victory over Southern Mississippi. For the season, Keenum has passed for 25 TD passes with only five interceptions. He leads the nation in touchdown passes and passing yards while ranking fifth in the country in quarterback rating. Keenum broke onto the scene last season with 44 touchdown passes and over 5000 passing yards for the Cougars as a sophomore. While 13th-ranked Houston has gained some significant wins in 2009 against Oklahoma State and Texas Tech, their status as a non-BCS conference team will make it difficult for Keenum to upstage Tebow and McCoy. This week, Houston will visit Tulsa in a Conference USA matchup.
