Baseball Betting: A.L. Teams Over-Under Season Win Totals

Odds to win 2010 World Series
The baseball season may still be a month away, but BetUS Sportsbook has already released its season long MLB betting win totals. Here’s a look at five of the juiciest season win totals for the American League teams for the 2010 season. Let the gaming begin!
Boston Red Sox under 94.5 wins (-115): How dare we go against the mighty Red Sox! Truth be told, if the boys from Beantown are struggling with their bats, they’re probably going to find a way to trade for 1B Adrian Gonzalez from San Diego or someone of the sorts. However, at this point, unless DH David Ortiz can really tear the cover off of the baseball again, there are too many holes in this team to warrant it winning 95 games this year, especially with both Tampa Bay and Baltimore having improved squads.
Oakland Athletics under 79.5 wins (-115): Oakland was playing some fantastic baseball down the stretch last season, but MLB betting festivities are just generally going to be too tough for the A’s to sniff .500 this year. Seattle, Texas, and Anaheim could all be 85+ win teams again, and there just aren’t enough wins to go around in this division at that point. Fade away at will, especially considering the fact that the newly acquired SP Ben Sheets is either going to be a $10 million dud, or a trading pawn at the deadline.
Kansas City Royals over 71.5 wins (-115): The Royals only won 65 games last year, but the acquisitions of OFs Scott Podsednik and Rick Ankiel along with C Jason Kendall should prove to pay dividends this year. The AL Central is the weakest division in the American League. Minnesota, Chicago, and Detroit are probably all between 80 and 85 win teams this year, which should leave the door open for KC to sneak out a few more than usual. If someone aside from SP Zach Greinke can pick up a 12-14 win season, this could be a slam dunk.
Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim under 83.5 wins (-115): It’s not just the fact that the Angels are a worse team this year and that the Mariners are a better one, but Texas is just as good as it was last year as well. Now, take DH Vladimir Guerrero, 3B Chone Figgins, and SP John Lackey away from this team, and what’s left? The good news is that Manager Mike Scioscia is one of the best in the bigs. The bad news is that this team just isn’t talented enough to finish six games over .500 in a tough division unless plenty of moves are made down the line.
Tampa Bay Rays under 89.5 wins (-115): How can three teams in the AL East all win 90 games this year? It seems like a given that New York is doing it and that Boston will at least come close. Even though on paper, the Rays look like they can do it, one must remember that this is a team that basically became a seller at the trade deadline last year when it dumped SP Scott Kazmir for very little in return. With OF Carl Crawford, OF BJ Upton, 1B Carlos Pena, and DH Pat Burrell all sitting in the final years of their contracts, any or all of these pieces to the puzzle could be moved before it’s all said and done. If that’s the case, there’s no way Tampa Bay is getting the 90 wins.
