Bet on Brett Favre 2010-2011 Comeback

The 2010 Super Bowl Champion New Orleans Saints have been basking in the glow of the franchise’s first ever championship title, and the 2010 NFL Draft is only seven weeks away. With the 2010-2011 season uncapped, numerous NFL teams have already made splashes in free agency. The notables include the Chicago Bears who inked the best overall free agent, DE Julius Peppers, to a lucrative multi-year contract. The Ravens landed WR Anquan Boldin by unloading multiple draft picks to the Arizona Cardinals, and the New York Giants made Antrel Rolle the highest paid safety in NFL history by inking him to a five-year $37 million contract.

Even with all this movement, there’s still a void up north in the NFC where the Minnesota Vikings are yet to know whether future Hall of Fame QB Brett Favre will return for a second campaign in the Twin Cities. With him at the helm last season, the Vikings posted back-to-back NFC North titles by going 12-4 SU throughout the regular season. Many are of the belief the Vikings were a poorly timed 12 men in the huddle penalty away from representing the NFC in Super Bowl XLIV. Regardless, Brett is coming off what many consider to be one of the best seasons in his illustrious career.

The Southern Mississippi product threw for 4202 yards and tossed 33 TDs to just seven interceptions. His 107.2 QB rating was the very best of his impressive 19 years in the league, which seriously suggests there’s still tread on this old man’s tires. He reached some major milestones as well last season. In Week 2 at Detroit, Favre supplanted Vikings DE Jim Marshall for consecutive starts at one position (291). Two weeks later, he became the first QB in NFL history to defeat all 32 of the league’s franchises since the league expanded in 2002 when he got the best of his former mates, the Green bay Packers, on Monday Night Football. That game was the single most-watched television program in the history of cable television.

The second time he faced his former team, he tied QB Dan Marino’s career record of 21 four-touchdown outings. He then broke that record two weeks later at home against Seattle where he picked the Seahawks defense apart by completing 22 of his 25 passes for 213 yards and four TDs. He threw his 500th career TD pass against the Chicago Bears in the rivals Week 12 battle.

Favre picked up another milestone becoming the first quarterback to win a playoff game at the age of 40 when the Vikings beat the Dallas Cowboys in the Divisional Round of the playoffs. Though Minnesota lost in the NFC Championship against New Orleans, Favre broke playoff records previously held by Joe Montana for pass completions and passing yards.
Though Vikings head coach Brad Childress made a house call to Brett this past week, he’s not putting a time table on the veteran to make a decision for the upcoming season.

Sportsbook.com currently has betting odds posted on whether #4 will return or not. With all the accolades this guy just picked up and the possibility of attaining even more in the 2010-11 regular season, his return to the NFL is favored at -140. Favre will pay out even money if he decides to hang the cleats up for good.
