Here at BetVega, we have our watchful eye on the best and worst teams both SU and ATS this year. Check out how teams have been doing against the NCAA football betting lines for both spreads and ‘totals’.
Crushing the Competition
Though the Utah Utes still have one of the best ATS records in the nation at 6-1-1 ATS, we’re dropping them from the list of top teams to bet on college football with after last week’s failed cover against the Air Force Falcons.
Instead, we love the Hawaii Warriors, Virginia Tech Hokies, and UCF Knights, who jointly hold the nations longest cover streaks at six games apiece. The Warriors are in control of their WAC destiny, while UCF is also now in command of C-USA. The Hokies were off last week, but can essentially lock up the ACC Coastal crown once again this weekend.
Top 5 Teams Against The Spread:
1. Hawaii 7-1 ATS
2. Utah 6-1-1 ATS
3. Virginia Tech 6-1 ATS
4. Oregon State 6-1 ATS
5. Central Florida 6-1 ATS

Lame ATS Ducks
The only team with just one cover left this season is the Rutgers Scarlet Knights. Piscataway is a relatively lonely place right now, though the Scarlet Knights can still miraculously go bowling in this atrocious season due to the fact that the rest of the Big East is just so bad.
The two winless teams left in the country are the New Mexico Lobos and Akron Zips, and between the two of them, they are only 4-13 ATS. These are definitely two schools to stay away from in college football betting action.
Though we could pick any of the Pac-10 teams to watch as an ‘over’ bunch (after all, they all have at least five ‘overs’ on the season), we’re still looking at the Oregon State Beavers in spite of the fact that they lost their streak of consecutive high scorers in last week’s 35-7 win over the Cal Golden Bears.
Keep an eyes on the Tennessee Volunteers and Kentucky Wildcats out of the SEC, though. These two are just barely sneaking past seemingly ever number, and these two are the only two teams in the country that can say they have seven ‘overs’ in a very high scoring season.
All Over the ‘Under’
BYU has had a week off to prepare for some more ‘under’ clashes, but even sitting idle at 7-1 easily leaves it as the best ‘under’ team in the country. In fact, there aren’t any other teams out there that can say they have just one ‘over’ game.
There are only seven others that have only had two ‘overs’ as well! The only two that have reached the lucky seven mark in ‘under’ games this year are the Iowa State Cyclones and the Miami Redhawks. The Redhawks became known for playing stingy defense right at the outset of the season against the Florida Gators and have never looked back.
For ISU though, it seems to be remarkable that a team which allowed 158 points in just three games is on this list at 7-2 towards the ‘under’. The trick is apparently simple. Give up less than 38 points in game! When that happens, the Cyclones are a perfect 6-0 for ‘under’ bettors this year.
