It’s NBA Monday and we are given a slate of 6 match-ups. Some heavy hitters going tonight but I’ve uncovered the best value plays for you in tonight’s games. I’m curious to see if the Raptors get their second win on the road or if the Heat can stay at 9-1 at home. Regardless, should be an interesting night. Let’s get to ‘em.
Brandon Knight PG Detroit Pistons (Draft for $5,100 on DraftKings Tonight) – Brandon is coming off of an amazing performance the other night. Brandon posted-up a career-high 30 points (10-20 FG, 5-6 3Pt, 5-6 FT) along with 7 rebounds, 5 assists, 1 block and 1 steal against Cleveland on Saturday. If you omit that 4-point debacle against the Golden State Warriors from last Wednesday then everything else has been going right for Knight. Brandon has produced at least 17 points in the last four out of five games and we’ll see more in this match-up. He’ll be up against the 76ers who Knight has solid digits against. In the earlier match-up this year Knight went for only 15 points and 7 rebounds. In my opinion that’s not enough. So with that being said, look for a comfortable performance tonight as Brandon tops his average and gets close to 30 points again. Yeah, I said 30.
Projection: 30 pts / 6 ast / 6 reb / 1 blk / 1 stl
Klay Thompson SG Golden State Warriors (Draft for $6,400 on DraftKings Tonight) – With each and every game Klay’s shooting percentage rises. If you watch Thompson play, one can only see the confidence that he has and it seems to build with each and every game. He’ll be facing the Bobcats in tonight’s game and with the minutes that Klay has been logging in I believe that he’ll be in store for a huge night. As I stated earlier, Klay’s shooting percentage has risen lately and against this Bobcat team he should be open all night to shoot. His price tag alone doesn’t make sense, still extremely cheap on all sites and for huge value as well? I’ll take that every time.
Projection: 20 pts / 4 ast / 5 reb / 2 stl
John Salmons SF Sacramento Kings (Draft for $3,00 on DraftKings Tonight) – After that ‘toilet’ performance against Orlando from Salmons on Friday it seems as though he has turned a corner. I’d like to chalk that Magic game up to just a lousy outing and move on. Everyone has their ‘off’ night and I guess are entitled to it. With the cruddy performance out of the way, Salmons has been ‘on’ as of late. John’s most recent showing the other night against the Trail Blazers had him scoring 19 points (6-10 FG, 3-4 3Pt, 4-5 FT) and also posted up a season high 11 assists on Saturday in the defeat of Portland. What I am hoping for is that Salmons throws up more treys because when he’s on, trust me, he’s on. I’m not looking for a career night tonight from Salmons but at the least an above average game.
Projection: 18 pts / 4 ast / 6 reb / 1 blk / 2 stl
Jason Thompson PF Sacramento Kings (Draft for $5,200 on DraftKings Tonight) – Well, well. Look at who has become a recent double-double threat. Thompson is one of those players who earlier in the season I was harping about to get more time on the floor. Looks as though some of these head coaches read my column. Jason has been averaging a little over 30 minutes per start and because of that extended playing time that Thompson has produced a bit better than earlier in the season. Thompson comes with a price tag at around mid-range, which is a joke considering what he can deliver when he’s on a roll. I can see Jason putting up a nice solid stat line tonight. I’ll go one better, look for JT to post-up a double-double and by the 3rd quarter no less. Watch.
Projection: 16 pts / 4 ast / 12 reb / 1 blk / 2 stl
J.J. Hickson C Portland Trail Blazers (Draft for $6,200 on DraftKings Tonight) – After that implosion that happened to Hickson versus Charlotte where he had only logged in 12 minutes while scoring only 2 points. J.J. seemed as if he didn’t know where he was at times during the game. Well, the good news is that he snapped out of it and then produced very well in the next two games he started. So well in fact that he posted up 2 double-doubles. I see another one in Hickson’s future, like tonight. He’ll be facing the lowly Raptors and will get his third double-double in a row courtesy of Jonas Valanciunas who will be ‘trying’ to tail J.J. all night. Sorry Jonas, ain’t happening.
Projection: 15 pts / 2 ast / 14 reb / 1 blk / 2 stl
