Georgia vs. South Carolina Odds, Picks, Score Prediction Week 2
The season is probably hanging in the balance for both the South Carolina Gamecocks and the Georgia Bulldogs on Saturday when these two teams meet “Between the Hedges” in Athens. UGA’s National Championship hopes are definitely on the line, as it already has one loss under its belt, while both teams know that a loss likely takes them out of the SEC East race to boot.
As you would expect, the first SEC East clash of the year is going to be a tight one. The Bulldogs are the short field goal favorites (-3) on the college football odds, while the total chimes in at 56.

[GEORGIA vs. SOUTH CAROLINA EXPERT BETTING PICKS]
1. Why South Carolina will cover the spread: This South Carolina defense is no joke. Even with DE Jadeveon Clowney looking slow and very mortal against North Carolina last week, the Gamecocks held down one of the most explosive offenses in the ACC to just 10 points and 293 yards. Remember that the Gamecocks won this game going away last season 35-7 in a clash that was never truly close. QB Connor Shaw has never lost to the Bulldogs.
2. Why Georgia will cover the spread: The Bulldogs are the more tested team right now, as they took on a game Clemson side and were beaten by a field goal in Week 1. Missing WR Malcolm Mitchell is going to hurt, but RB Todd Gurley should be in for another big time day. QB Aaron Murray hasn’t lost many games at home throughout his career, and one of the ones that he is trying to avenge is a loss to this South Carolina team from two seasons ago.
3. Total Talk: This series has featured mostly ‘under’ games over the course of the last several seasons. In fact, going all the way back to 2001, the ‘under’ is 11-2 in the last 13 clashes. However, both of these teams have been playing ‘over’ games like crazy of late. The Gamecocks have played four straight SEC games past the number, while Georgia has played five straight games in the month of September beyond the ‘total’ as well. However, the ‘under’ is 4-0 in Georgia’s last four games
4. Betting Trends for the game: In what might seem like a little bit of a surprise, the Gamecocks have dominated this series over the course of the last several years. They are 5-0-1 ATS over the course of the last six years against their SEC East foes, and stand 4-0 ATS in their last four trips here to Sanford Stadium. South Carolina has also put up 45 and 37points in the last two trips to Athens as well. Georgia though, is 6-2 ATS in its last eight games, and after suffering one defeat against Clemson, it isn’t going to want to be beaten for a second straight game, which would essentially make the rest of this promising season relatively moot.
