The NFL betting affair for Sunday Night Football this week is probably the most important so far on the season. The New York Giants and Philadelphia Eagles are both 6-3 right now and tied atop the NFC East. The winning team will have the one game edge and hold the tiebreaker in the division, while the loser will be a game out and probably be on the outside of the playoff race looking in with just six games to play.
Check out who is beating the NFL odds in this one, as the hosts are favored by a field goal:
Giants vs. Eagles Betting Key #1: New York’s game against the Dallas Cowboys: Farce or Fact of Life?
Farce. Everything was working against the Giants last week. They had already gone into Dallas and not just beaten the Cowboys, but beaten them up by knocking Tony Romo out of the game and potentially for the remainder of the season. The ‘Boys had a brand new head coach in Jason Garrett to rally around as well. Parlay all of that with the fact that this was a vintage look ahead game to this week’s showdown in the City of Brotherly Love, and all of the makings were there for a pretty large upset to stop a five game winning streak.
Giants vs. Eagles Betting Key #2: Is Michael Vick really able to play like the league’s MVP in this game?
He sure as heck did last week! Vick accounted for over 400 yards of offense and had six TDs against the Washington Redskins, and now he takes on a defense that has a very similar mindset to it. Still, the pass rushers for the Giants are better than those of the Redskins, and Vick is going to be forced to stay inside the pocket and make some magic happen from there. He can do it, but it’s not necessarily going to be as easy as it was against Washington on MNF.

Giants vs. Eagles Betting Key #3: Philly’s defense has allowed at least 24 in three straight games and in six of the nine this season. Cause for concern?
You betcha! The Eagles just don’t really have the horses on this side of the ball to be able to keep up with a team like New York, and this unit might really be exposed in the final weeks of the season when it has to face some real high powered offenses. Allowing 23.2 points per game when you’ve played the likes of San Francisco, Washington twice, Jacksonville, and Detroit just isn’t acceptable. The G-Men should be able to exploit this in a huge way.
Vick isn’t going to be the difference maker on SNF; Eli Manning will! Eli’s coming for sure, and he wants to claim a huge victory for his G-Men on the road. Manning will get the job done by getting the ball to Hakeem Nicks and Steve Smith, as New York runs away from Philly by two scores. The Giants are the better overall team in this match-up, and will let the rest of the world know it by taking care of the Eagles in their own house Sunday night!
