2009 Super Bowl 43 Odds - 2009 BCS College Football Odds
2008 NFL Mock DraftBy: Robert Davis | http://www.footballsfuture.com
- Miami - Matt Ryan QB Boston College
John Beck failed to establish himself, and was an older rookie to begin with. The team needs a leader on offense, and Ryan may be that guy.
- St. Louis - Glenn Dorsey DT LSU
Dorsey’s presence inside would move Adam Carriker out to end. If they are comfortable with Carriker inside, Chris Long may make more sense here.
- Atlanta - Darren McFadden, RB, Arkansas
With Ryan off the board, the Falcons take the best available player. Despite the presence of Dunn and Norwood, McFadden is special.
- Oakland - Jake Long, OT, Michigan
The Raiders need help protecting last years #1 overall pick. Long has the ability to play on both sides, which will help them fill out the rest of the line.
- Kansas City - Brian Brohm, QB, Louisville
Brodie Croyle is not the answer at the QB spot, so they go with the best available QB. With Long off the board, it makes this pick easier.
- NY Jets - Chris Long, DE, Virginia
Long is a perfect fit in the Jets defense and would make an immediate impact.
- New England(SF) - Ryan Clady, OT, Boise St.
The Pats were exposed off the edge. Clady has the natural athleticism and pass blocking ability to start early on in his career.
- Baltimore - Vernon Gholston, DE/OLB, Ohio St.
Adalius Thomas was lost two years ago, and Terrell Suggs could be on his way out this year. An athletic edge rusher could be a big need come draft day.
- Cincinnati - Sedrick Ellis, DT, UC
Ellis has risen steadily up the boards, and could even go higher in April. He is neck and neck with Glenn Dorsey as the top DT in the draft.
- New Orleans - Keith Rivers, LB, USC
The Saints pass on their need for a corner by taking the playmaking LB from USC. Rivers’ all around talent and speed would give the Saints a lot of versatility at linebacker.
- Buffalo - Mike Jenkins, CB, South Florida
The Bills have lacked a playmaker at corner since Nate Clements left two years ago. They hope Jenkins is the guy to bring that shutdown ability back to their secondary.
- Denver - Kenny Phillips S Miami
The Broncos have been known for standout safety play, but they currently lack a standout performer back there. Phillips has the all around ability to make an impact early, and be a big addition to the defense.
- Carolina - Jeff Otah, OT, Pitt
Otah is a player that continues to rise because of his massive frame and athleticism. Both starters are free agents this year, so they need to find a long term solution early in the draft.
- Chicago - Andre Woodson, QB, Kentucky
Woodson struggled at the Senior Bowl, and may not be ready to play right away in the NFL. The Bears take the gamble though because their QB play has been terrible. The upside Woodson brings is too much to pass on here.
- Detroit - Leodis McKelvin, CB, Troy
McKelvin has all the talent to be a star in the secondary, and that would be a big boost for the Lions defense.
- Arizona - Rashard Mendenhall, RB, Illinois
Rumors have the Cards dumping Edge and going with a younger and cheaper back. Mendenhall had a huge season capped off with a huge Rose Bowl against USC. He has the ability to carry the load as a back between the tackles, but is a surprising threat as a receiving as well. The Cards look long and hard at defense, but go for the back to put in the same backfield with Leinart.
- Minnesota - Derrick Harvey DE Florida
Harvey is a big time pass rusher, which is exactly what the Vikings need off the edge. They haven’t gotten enough production from their ends in recent years and they hope Harvey can end that.
- Houston - Aqib Talib CB Kansas
The Texans need help at both corner and safety. Talib has the talent to play both, and his versatility would be tremendous for a team that needs help in both areas.
- Philadelphia - DeSean Jackson WR Cal
Jackson’s home run ability would be a welcomed addition to the Eagles receiving corps. There is some talent in the unit, but nobody with the ability to take it the distance on any down.
- Tampa Bay - Chris Williams OT Vanderbilt
The Bucs have added some talent to the offensive line in recent years, but help at tackle is still needed. Williams could develop into a quality left tackle in the NFL if he wants it bad enough.
- Washington - Calais Campbell DE Miami
Campbell did not have the big year expected of him, but he still has too much potential to last too long on draft day.
- Dallas(Cle) - Reggie Smith DB Oklahoma
Smith’s versatility and upside at corner and safety make him a nice fit for the Boys.
- Pittsburgh - Gosder Cherilus OT Boston College
The Steelers may need more help inside, but the selection of Cherilus could move Colon inside to guard, upgrading both spots.
- Tennessee - Limas Sweed, WR, Texas
Vince Young needs some targets, and who better than his 6'5 former college teammate.
- Seattle - Jonathan Stewart, RB, Oregon
Stewart has a lot of the same traits that Shaun Alexander brings to the table. Alexander is slowing down and getting a big pay day, so the team may opt for a younger, cheaper alternative.
- Jacksonville - Mario Manningham WR Michigan
The Jags have some talent at receiver, but nobody to make big plays. Manningham is not a blazer, but he is a playmaker and would bring a much needed boost to the receiving corps.
- San Diego - Kentwan Balmer, DT, North Carolina
Balmer has the size and versatility to help out in a number of spots along the defensive line.
- Dallas - Felix Jones, RB, Arkansas
The 2nd Hog back to be taken in the first round this year. Jerry Jones is rumored to love Darren McFadden, but Jones is a much more realistic option. His homerun ability alongside Marion Barber is the perfect compliment.
- San Francisco(Ind) - Malcolm Kelly WR Oklahoma
Kelly is a big target that could develop into Alex Smith’s goto guy early on. His blend of talent will remind some 9er fans of Terrell Owens.
- Green Bay - Dominique Rogers-Cromartie DB Tennessee St.
Rogers-Cromartie is a late riser that would be a great fit for the Pack. He has all the talent to develop at corner, and would learn a lot of behind Al Harris and Charles Woodson. He could provide depth at corner and safety immediately, while developing into a starting corner down the line.
- New England - forfeit
- NY Giants - Dan Connor, LB, Penn St.
Connor probably deserves to go higher, but the need for a linebacker just hasn’t been there yet. He has the talent to play a variety of roles at linebacker, which would be a nice addition to the Giants defense.
