We will be doing a full rundown of all Sunday and Monday NFL selections, with around three Upset Specials each week. We are not including the unlined Jacksonville at Green Bay game, which should be a Packer blowout.
New England (-6½) over St. Louis – Tom Brady had an off day vs. the Jets, but the running game produced 131 yards. Look for Brady to bounce back vs. a Rams’ defense that just allowed 342 passing yards to Aaron Rodgers. (Live Odds – Expert Picks – Bet %)
Upset Special #1 Indianapolis (+3½) over Tennessee – Believe it or not, the winner of this game will be in second place in the AFC South. Chris Johnson appears to be back, but that won’t matter if Andrew Luck torches the Tennessee secondary to force the Titans to play from behind. (Live Odds – Expert Picks – Bet %)
San Diego (-2½) over Cleveland – The Norv Turner watch may be on, but look for the Chargers to prevail off a bye vs. a Cleveland team that might be without Trent Richardson, who would be limited if he plays. (Live Odds – Expert Picks – Bet %)
Upset Special #2 Atlanta (+2½) over Philadelphia – When is picking a 6-0 team an upset? When that team is on the road vs. Andy Reid, who is 10-3 ATS off of a bye! Well, we don’t care because the Eagles are the most overrated team in the NFL. (Live Odds – Expert Picks – Bet %)
Detroit (-2½) over Seattle – The Lions played great defensively vs. the Bears, and while Seattle has one of the best defenses in the NFL, an extra big play or two by the superior Detroit offense makes the difference. (Live Odds – Expert Picks – Bet %)
Miami (+2½) over N.Y. Jets – This would be an Upset Special if the line were higher, but the underrated Dolphins are finally getting some respect. We still think they win out over a Jets’ team deflated by the near miss in Foxboro. (Live Odds – Expert Picks – Bet %)
Chicago (-7½) over Carolina – The Bears are ferocious defensively, and don’t be too hard on them for a bad offensive performance Monday as the Detroit defense is not bad at all now that it is healthy. Chicago bounces back vs. a dreadful Carolina defense. (Live Odds – Expert Picks – Bet %)
Pittsburgh (-4½) over Washington – The Steelers rediscovered their running game Sunday night without Rashard Mendenhall and center Maurkice Pouncey, who may both be back. Pittsburgh defended Michael Vick well, so why not RG3? (Live Odds – Expert Picks – Bet %)
Oakland (+2) over Kansas City – This might be the ugliest game of the week, and we like the ‘under’ more than anything else. Since we feel the side is a con flip, we will take the points. (Live Odds – Expert Picks – Bet %)
N.Y. Giants (-1½) over Dallas – The Giants can take command of the NFC East with a win and get revenge for an opening night loss to Dallas. With DeMarco Murray and center Phil Costa both doubtful, look for New York to do just that. (Live Odds – Expert Picks – Bet %)
Upset Special #3 New Orleans (+6) over Denver – In our biggest stunner of the week, the Saints have won two straight and are dreaming of getting back into the playoff hunt, Drew Brees is 31-20 ATS as an underdog and the Broncos are 3-16 ATS when favored by 3½ or more. (Live Odds – Expert Picks – Bet %)
San Francisco (-6½) over Arizona – In a tough call between two great defenses, we simply feel that the 49ers are better equipped offensively to solve the Arizona defense than the Cardinals are of doing anything. (Live Odds – Expert Picks – Bet %)
