It’s always fun to look to the future, especially after a few weeks of college football games. We’ve had a few ranked teams play each other, a few upsets and near upsets, and more.
Clemson beat Texas A&M quite handedly, and would have been for a larger margin if Jimbo Fisher didn’t exhaust his final timeouts and play-calling to score at the last second to close the gap (and the spread!). LSU beat Texas in Austin, and Michigan just escaped a monumental upset to Army.
After two weeks, let’s take a look at the projected bowl games after two weeks of play.
COLLEGE FOOTBALL PLAYOFFS PROJECTION
Peach Bowl
College Football Playoff – Semifinal
Alabama vs Georgia
Projected Odds: Alabama -6.5
Alabama’s passing game and rushing ability is just too much for the Bulldogs, and that 6.5 may be larger as the season progresses. Tua Tagovailoa brings the Crimson Tide to the National Championship…again.
Projected Score: Alabama 31 – Georgia 24
Fiesta Bowl
College Football Playoff – Semifinal
LSU vs Clemson
Projected Odds: Clemson -4.5
LSU makes it as the fourth-seeded team, and the third SEC team in the college football playoff. With a stout defensive front most years, LSU’s offense has taken a huge step forward with Joe Burrow, as the battle of the quarterbacks in this one will be a high-scoring affair.
Clemson’s offense is just far too talented with at least five future-NFL players, and they roll into the National Championship game yet again with the arm of Heisman favorite Trevor Lawrence, and the legs of Travis Etienne.
Projected Score: Clemson 38 – LSU 27
Sugar Bowl
BIG12 #1 vs SEC #1
Oklahoma vs. Georgia
Projected Odds: UGA -2.5
Projected Score: Oklahoma 40 – Georgia 33
In what is likely two top 6 teams, OU and UGA are snubbed from the playoffs with elite programs in front of them, but Jalen Hurts and Jake Fromm put on a show at the Sugar Bowl. Lincoln Riley is just too much for Georgia in the end.
Rose Bowl
B1G #1 vs PAC12 #1
Ohio State vs Oregon
Projected Odds: OSU -9.5
Projected Score: Ohio State 38 – Oregon 23
Ohio State is far too talented against the PAC12 winner in Oregon, but we’ll get a chance to see Justin Herbert against a very talented defense before going in the 1st round in the NFL Draft. Expect Ohio State to roll.
Orange Bowl
ACC vs. B1G #2 or SEC #2
Virginia vs Auburn
Projected Odds: Auburn -7.5
Projected Score: Auburn 27 – Virginia 14
Auburn is just too talented for UVA, who cannot compete with the size and speed of the FIFTH SEC team in a bowl game. There is a great year ahead for the conference, unless Clemson wins the National Championship…again.
Cotton Bowl
Committee Selection
Texas vs Notre Dame
Projected Odds: Notre Dame -2.5
Projected Score: Texas 20 – Notre Dame 17
Notre Dame or Texas doesn’t make the CFB Playoffs, but in a game of two storied programs…the Horns prevail.
Yes, Texas just lost to LSU in Austin…but the Tigers have a championship caliber offense to go along with their always talented defense. The committee will recognize this as Texas rolls through the B1G with their sole loss to Oklahoma.
