Week 2 Heavy Hitters
As you can see, there are a few games where a lot of the money wagered is on one side. A look at the heaviest games in terms of spreads, totals, and moneyline.
For example, Bears -2.5 vs Broncos – 99% means that 99% of the money on that game has been bet on the Bears covering 2.5 points against the Broncos.
Spread
Bears -2.5 vs Broncos – 99%
Chargers -2.5 vs Lions – 97%
Cowboys -5.5 vs Redskins 95%
DraftKings Sportsbook will be a big fan of Joe Flacco, Matt Stafford, and Case Keenum this weekend. The public is heavily favoring the Bears and Chargers to cover a small spread against two inferior teams, and the public is not impressed with the Redskins’ first half against the Eagles last week, giving Washington no respect by loading up on the Cowboys -5.5.
Total
Browns vs Jets over 45 – 92%
Chiefs vs Raiders over 53.5 – 91%
Eagles vs Falcons over 51 – 90%
Everyone loves betting the overs. The top three totals bet on are all on the over, so DraftKings Sportsbook is hoping for some punts, turnovers, and field goals.
Browns and Jets is interesting, because Sam Darnold has been ruled out with mono and Le’Veon Bell is getting a MRI on his shoulder. Maybe that number drops before kickoff?
Eagles and Falcons are two of the better offenses in the NFC, and they have a plethora of speed to show off on that Atlanta turf. Over 51 in that game is not surprising from a public point of view.
Moneyline
Texans -420 over Jaguars – 99%
Panthers -305 over Bucs – 99%
Cowboys -240 over Redskins – 98%
Chiefs -360 over Raiders – 96%
This is where sportsbooks make their money during the season, yes the heavy favorites normally win…but every now and then there is an upset.
If one of the huge upsets occur, including one not listed above with the Ravens being -715 against the Cardinals at 95% of the bets, DraftKings Sportsbook will make out given the odds.
Notice that the top moneylines bet in terms of money wagered are all heavy favorites, this is a trend that has occurred for a long time with public bettors…and it’s how books can make a lot of money should there be a big upset.
Best of luck on your bets for Week 2 on DraftKings Sportsbook!
